Folk and Americana shaped by island years and southern roots
Moss Henry is a singer and songwriter shaped by movement, memory, and the places that leave a mark. Raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, he grew up immersed in Appalachian storytelling and the timeless pull of American folk and country music. That foundation took on new meaning when he made a life-changing move to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where island days and late-night barroom sets became the backdrop for his earliest songs. While pioneering the name “Caribbean Cowboy,” Moss became a staple of St. John nightlife, performing to hundreds and packing beach bars night after night. Tourists came to dance, locals came to unwind, and every show felt like a gathering. Those years on island stages sharpened his live show and built the easy, genuine connection that continues to define his performances.
As his sound evolved, the energy of those nights gave way to a deeper blend of coastal soul, folk grit, and country storytelling, a voice that has since carried far beyond the islands. Moss recently wrapped a sold-out East Coast theater tour opening for singer-songwriter Troy Ramey, sharing rooms built for listening and connection. His debut album Gone Away has earned hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify, marking a major step forward in his journey. Now, Moss is preparing for his most ambitious chapter yet. His sophomore album, arriving spring 2026, explores a darker and more grounded side of his songwriting, tracing the contrast between island dreams and the realities of building a life and providing for a young family along colder New England shores. It is honest, cinematic, and deeply human, and it signals a defining year ahead for Moss Henry and the road still unfolding.
